Holiday Guide - Cards

It's that time of year again! Are you stressed? Or are you a deck-the-halls, card-sending, hot-cocoa-drinking, snow-lover like me? Either way, I'm here to make your next three weeks easier than ever before!

So sit back... put on your favorite ugly sweater and grab some spiked eggnog this is going to be your best year yet! Do you feel it in your fingers...? Feel it in your toes...?

I wanted to start the Holiday guide with one of my favorite but admittedly the most tedious part of the holiday... Card sending!

This card may be one of the funniest I've seen... if you buy this please add me to your list.. I'll return the favor.

I have always been head over heels for Rifle Paper Company  - this husband and wife team out of Florida have the most clever designs, and when I saw their ornament cards my head exploded from sugar plums dancing to dubstep.

37 Million!

The PMC Check presentation was today and above is a picture of A and I holding the giant check!

A also just joined the PMC as a head staff member - so it's official we are lifers! Thanks to all the riders, survivors, fighters, volunteers and staff that make this event everything it is - and work hard to raise every penny that goes into this check. We all have so much to be proud of.

PMC!

This past weekend over 5,000 riders and 3,000 volunteers came together to make history and fight cancer. Every year A and I spend the weekend working and not sleeping to make sure the parts of the day we are responsible for are run well, and that we keep people happy and healthy!  The picture above is the program I am now responsible for, the Pedal Partner Program, this year I was fortunate to get to meet and work with 73 families who are fighting cancer - it was an amazing weekend full of a lot of inspiration and even though it was the hottest weekend I have experienced it was worth all the sweat! Can't wait to see what was raised! If you haven't yet - please donate today.

Nora

“Why do people write books that say it’s better to be older than to be younger?” she wrote in “I Feel Bad About My Neck,” her 2006 best-selling collection of essays. “It’s not better. Even if you have all your marbles, you’re constantly reaching for the name of the person you met the day before yesterday.”

Nora Ephron taught us all so much - many of might not even realize how talented and amazing this woman was - and how many lives she touched. Read this and this the second link is also the photo source (Ray Howard/AP Photo.)

Also, take a minute and donate to fight cancer - it's a battle we can win - we are getting closer everyday. Join the fight - my charity of choice is the Pan-Mass Challenge
but anywhere will work - just make sure 100% of your donation is going towards research and treatment.

Kick Off!

It's hard to be believe that it's the time of year for my annual PMC Pedal-Partner Kick Off Party!
The event was really wonderful, everything ran smoothly the kids and families were happy and smiling, and on a deeper level the riders really connected with their cause. When I tell people that I work with Pediatric Oncology patients and their families people react in all different ways. Some people tell me about some one they lost, others ask how they can help, some say "Wow, that's a tough job - I could never do it," and some hug me and say "Thanks." Whatever the reaction, I always tell people the same thing, it is impossible to not be full of love and happiness when I am around these families. The fact that these parents share their children with us is nothing short of a miracle! I am proud of the way the program has grown, and that the kids love it enough to come back even when they are in remission.

Before the jump, I can't help but remind everyone to donate to the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge! Every single penny you donate goes directly to cancer research and treatment at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute - make a difference today. You can always make a general donation by clicking here or if you know someone who is riding please make a donation to him or her today! If you want to take a look there are more photos of the party after the jump!
