Better Than I've Been To Myself

Thoughts of the week include but are not limited to:
  • Trust in the internet you can always find the answer to your questions
  • Friends and family can be trusted with telling you the truth and supporting you through anything
  • I never think the music is too loud.
  • The lights on the trees on the Commonwealth Ave mall make living through a Boston winter joyful
  • The smaller the resto - the better the food
  • It’s been too long since I’ve read something that wasn’t on a screen
  • The roots dominated 2011
  • This is my favorite time of year, not because of the holidays but because of the “Top 100” “Top 25” and countdown lists that come out this time of year. I am a total junky for that stuff.
  • Cooking is similar to therapy, but with a lot more calories.
  • Sometimes the fear of disappointing the people you love keeps you doing something that makes you sad
  • Everyone loves chocolate cream pie
  • Homemade cranberry sauce isn’t worth it.
  • Breakfast is the best meal of the day (and turns out the most important)
  • New Years Eve is rarely worth the headache
  • Walking a stranger’s dog is 1/8th as awesome as having your own dog to walk would be
  • All the sudden it will be a new year
Cheers to fresh starts and more opportunities for growth and change,

Things That Have Been Thought

It’s been a while - Summer is crazy for me (I know, I know. Excuses - Excuses) Either way, I’m back. Hope you missed me (is this thing on?)

Things that have been thought but rarely acted on include:
  • Pickles are preserved cucumbers and raisins are old grapes - but they are actually quite delicious.
  • I don’t believe that anyone actually like scallops - no one could enjoy that texture
  • People who lie about “lost and found” items - should be publicly humiliated.
  • The color purple looks good on everyone - but people don’t wear it enough (by “people” I am excluding women over 85 - they wear it plenty)
  • Someday when I am old I want to be a small town local hero/celebrity (Duxbury kids - Doris the crosswalk lady?)
  • There is no worse pain then stubbing your toe. NONE. After I stub my toe as I sit there holding my foot wanting to cut it off with a dull plastic knife - it might be short, but it hurts. Bad.
  • Really beginning to think about what's next - and in that process you think a lot about what's important to you. Anyone who knows me - knows how much I love human kind - especially the human kind that is excited about helping their fellow people.
Remember after Tuesday comes Wednesday.

Next week…

Next week I’ll:

Organize my “drawer” - you know the one. Pens, receipts, lost earring, pennies, Altoids tin, photo of dog when she was a puppy, found earring, book-marks, movie tickets from 8th grade (that have somehow survived 27 moves, and matchbooks from various restos -
Answer all flagged emails
Finish my book (only 330 pages to go!!)
Celebrate the boys 26th (officially an old man-a handsome one, but an old man none the less)
Remind myself how good I am at watering plants by staring at our window boxes.
Make a play list that makes driving home feel right
Call old friends who’s voices I haven’t hear in far too long. Make them laugh. Laugh at them, and with them.
Make a delicious dinner that costs under 20$ and takes under 30 minutes.
Get work early and make real change.
Eat something other than a 100 Calorie goldfish bag for lunch
Use all the greek yogurt in the tub before it goes back (REMINDER BUY BANANAS) since it’ll probably be used in banana bread - since I can never seem to remember to eat the yogurt or the bananas.
Blog more.
Over and out,
A
