Wanderlust

On Monday I found myself in my favorite Boston area book store - Brookline Booksmith where I am came across an enormous and wonderful coffee table book "Tree Houses: Fairy Tale Castles in the Air" after flipping through the pages I was struck with the sudden urge to buy a plane ticket and sleep in the canopy of the forest. The photos were such a relief from the bitter cold and the grey skies that I had to pass a few of the most awe-inspiring to you! Enjoy, stay warm and if you are stuck indoors hungry and bored make these rice krispy treats they are delicious!

Mirrorcube Tree Hotel in Sweden - even though the pictures are breathtaking, I think it's something you have to see to believe. Camouflaged mirrored tree houses? Sounds good to me.

Tree House Point in Washington seems really cozy and romantic. Imagine waking up in this little cabin in the trees?

Costa Rica Tree House seems like a great place to have a tropical get away. I think this would be awesome place to go with a group. Anyone in?

A Weekend With the Boys

This past weekend we took a trip to Lake Merrymeeting to our friends house. It's a small lake in NH and it's absolutely beautiful! His family dog, Murph, is the greatest old man golden retriever I know. Just loves to swim and fetch and go out on the boat. It was great to have a weekend with the boys and eat giant ice cream cones by the lake.

Vacationland

This last trip was up the East Coast to Christmas Cove, Maine - to reunite with old college friends and stay up way too late... it's always hard packing a year's worth of catching up into one weekend but somehow E and I always find away. It was nice to spend time with her other half and to have A there as well, as time goes by and we all live separate lives sometimes its hard to keep up with every little thing everyone's doing - but E and I have perfected the quick catch up and I am so happy for her, but still miss being attached at the hip! We spent one whole day just out on the boat stopping at little islands scattered along the coast - it was a really wonderful break from what has been a very busy summer! The above photo was taken at Pemaquid Lighthouse

Maine itself is absolutely one of the most beautiful places on the planet in the summer. Ocean, forest, lighthouses, lobster - the list goes on and on. From Boston you can even go for a day trip. More photos of our trip after the jump!

Island Time

Went on a trip with the boyfriend's family to Martha's Vineyard, and I've got say there is something about that island. Everyone was so relaxed and we just let loose and had a great time. If you ever find yourself with the opportunity to head over to the island please GO! The beaches are beautiful the water is warm (watch out for sharks) and the people are awesome! It was so nice to be with A's big Italian family and all pack into a condo on the beach for a weekend of nothing but fun.

Saint Patrick's Day

Here's to a long life and a merry one.
A quick death and an easy one.
A pretty girl and an honest one.
A cold pint -- and another one!

Comes In Like A Lion

Greetings Earthlings!

March is here, it's hard to believe... this year is flying by at an intense speed and I can't help but get that mucky feeling that time is slipping away and maybe life isn't progressing as quickly as time is. My time at the organization where I started my career is winding down, it's hard to believe that I will no longer be the keeper of the database fixes, event trouble-shooter, fundraising stickler, joke teller of 77 4th Avenue any longer. I have learned so much from my time in the office, and I really will miss the people I have spent the last couple of years with. But to quote Tom Petty it's time to move on... time to get going. (You are lying if you say you don't like that song)

The picture above was taken by the boyfriend this past weekend in Woodstock, VT. My grandmother turned 76, and while this has been a very difficult year for her as you can see above she can still do the can-can!

Enough about me! Here are some wonderful things to do as we embark on the month that means spring is around the corner:

As I mentioned above we have been spending some time in Vermont as of late and Woodstock is a particularly gorgeous little town... if you ever find yourself there I would recommend:
  • The Spa at the Woodstock Inn  they have this outrageous area outside that is breathtaking and so comfortable
  • We have had some difficulty with booking reservations, but the food really is outrageous so I still suggest checking out Osteria Pane e Salute. I would just go when they first open and sit down for a nice quiet meal
  • Also I just can't through the spring with out a great light weight jacket and I have been eyeing this one from Emerson Fry (but lets be honest I'd love one of everything from the whole line!)
  • This scarf is also absolutely amazing! The print with that E. blazer and some dark jeans would just me amazing - sigh - someday
  • Also I adore these boots they are so utilitarian but still beautiful and wearable! (They also have company philosophy I can get behind and it just makes me want to buy everything they sell)
Alright wish me luck and send me love - I am doing the same for all of you!

Going West

Next Monday D and I embark on a cross country trek to bring her to her new home - Colorado.

Below you will find a recipe for the perfect road trip, I hope that if we follow these steps carefully and get the exact ingredients we will have a perfect little adventure come next Saturday.
Ingredients:
  • A friend you like enough to drive across the nation with (ability to tolerate each other)
  • Music, non stop jams and lots of them
  • Comfortable pants
  • Couches to sleep on (anyone?)
  • A warm blanket that folds into your backpack
  • A backpack
  • The ability to not care where or if you sleep
  • Cough drops, Emergen-c, Chloraseptic throat spray, Advil (let’s be honest we aren’t 18 anymore)
  • A camera
  • A good sweatshirt
  • A map
  • A strong feeling that American Literature has always been right, and going west is THE thing to do - uncharted territories, freedom, escape, etc.
  • The ability to sleep in the car
  • To stop yourself from sobbing uncontrollably on your flight home
Mix together in a blue jeep liberty full of D’s belongings and hope that the crust rises properly.
Fingers crossed - I’d say I'd write from the road, but I would be lying. I will post pictures!
Cheers to an adventure!
